Every Saturday from early June through early October, Georgetown Farmers’ Market takes over the historic Main Street in Georgetown—and it’s easily one of the best farmers markets in Halton Hills.
This is exactly what you want from a small-town Ontario farmers market. You’ll find all the classics: local farmers with fresh, seasonal produce, vendors offering artisanal cheeses and meats, and a wide range of pantry staples like sauces, hot sauces, and baked goods. There are also cideries and local breweries, which add to the variety and make it feel like more than just a produce market.
One of my favourites is Uncle Dad’s Pizza, known for unique, frozen pizzas. It’s worth grabbing one for later—especially if you like trying new flavour combinations.
Beyond food, the market has a strong community feel. You’ll often see local organizations—like theatre groups, improv troupes, and art studios—sharing information about upcoming events, classes, and shows. The town also hosts family-friendly activities throughout the season, including kids’ art events that sometimes tie into local gallery displays.
There’s usually live music, plenty of ready-to-eat food (think breakfast sandwiches, waffles, fresh juice, and smoothie bowls), and a steady, relaxed energy that makes it easy to spend more time than you planned.
One practical detail that makes a difference: all the vendor stalls line one side of the street. It keeps things organized and makes it easy to browse—or move quickly along the back side of the tents if you’re short on time.
Another bonus is that many of the Main Street shops stay open during the market. It’s easy to turn your visit into a full morning out—grab an ice cream at Whimsy’s Ice Cream or a coffee at Lyla’s House, and explore a few local shops while you’re there.
If you’re looking for things to do in Georgetown in the summer, this is one of the easiest recommendations. It’s a great way to shop local, enjoy peak-season produce, and connect with the community—you’ll likely run into someone you know along the way.
A few personal favourites: fresh seasonal vegetables, a soft pretzel for the kids, and a frozen pizza to keep on hand for an easy dinner later.
