Located in the heart of Georgetown’s historic Main Street, Whimsy’s is exactly what you hope to find in a small Ontario town—an independent ice cream shop that feels local in all the right ways.
It’s bright, cheerful, simply decorated, and instantly inviting. While it’s relatively new to the main street (opened in 2019), it already feels well established as part of the community. The owners are clearly invested locally—supporting things like girls’ soccer—and the shop is often staffed by local teens and young adults.
The ice cream itself comes from Peterborough and strikes a nice balance between classic favourites and more eclectic, new flavours. There’s enough variety to keep things interesting, but still plenty of options for those who just want something familiar.
Beyond ice cream, they also offer baked goods like donuts and cookies, making it easy to turn a quick stop into a bit of a treat.
We love to stop by during the farmers’ market, grab something before or after a hike (Limehouse Trail), or swing in after an evening of kids’ sports. On a warm weeknight, it’s exactly what you’d expect—families, kids, and others enjoying a simple treat.
They’re open most of the year but do close for the winter, which makes sense—and honestly makes it feel even more like a seasonal ritual when they reopen.
