If you’re looking for one of the best craft breweries near Toronto, GoodLot Farmstead Brewing Co. in Caledon is well worth the trip. Just north of Halton Hills, it’s a true farm-to-glass brewery, with organic hops grown right on site and a relaxed countryside feel throughout.
The space is inviting, with two outdoor seating areas. We started in the back beer garden beside the taco truck—where the tacos were genuinely excellent, I recommend getting the spicy sauce on the side. Later, we moved to the other outdoor area where live music was starting up and fresh oysters were being shucked on site. The combination of good beer, food, and music makes it an easy place to settle in for a few hours.
One of the more memorable touches is the free-roaming chickens wandering the grounds, adding to the farm vibe. It’s dog-friendly (on leash), but worth noting if your dog is reactive around animals.
The beer selection is solid and you can also take cans home, though the on-site bottle shop is fairly small. A few of their beers are also available at the LCBO and The Beer Store.
We arrived around 2:30pm and parking was easy, but it filled quickly once live music started around 3:30pm—so earlier is better if you want a more relaxed arrival.
Overall, it’s a great mix of beer, food trucks, live music, and open-air farm space, making it one of the most enjoyable brewery experiences in the Caledon area. An excellent way to (sp)end a day exploring Caledon.
